Plasman Partners With WSPS to Host a Community Safety Workshop

On August 21, 2025, Plasman partnered with Workplace Safety & Prevention Services (WSPS) to host a network session at Windsor Tooling in Windsor, Ontario, on the important topic of Machine and Robotics Safety.

Lisa Montilla, H&S Account Manager for WSPS, organizes up to five of the network sessions annually in the Windsor-Essex community that focus on specific health and safety topics. “These meetings are very valuable as they get people connected across different sectors of business,” explained Lisa. “It is also a great opportunity for health and safety professionals to network and learn while sharing best practices.”

Over thirty representatives from different companies in the community participated in the workshop. It was led by Josh Paine, Specialized Consultant Machine & Robotics Safety for WSPS. The topics discussed included key machine safety regulations, understanding the impact of how companies can be fined and penalized for unsafe work practices, and practical strategies to enhance compliance and reduce risk.

“Collaboration is key for all that participate in these free workshops,” noted Josh. “Sharing related challenges and best practices helps people and companies succeed. For this specific topic, it was effective to review case studies on machine guarding that detail how legal requirements are to be followed while discussing how we can all be more proactive to reduce risk.”

Plasman Joint Health and Safety Committee members were in attendance, including Deborah Leftly, Director of Health and Safety for North America, Plasman. Recently, Plasman partnered with Josh and WSPS to review their Lockout-Tagout equipment and procedures at each of their Canadian locations. “It went very well with a lot of insight and participation from our Plasman Environmental and Health and Safety team,” noted Deborah. “WSPS offers their resources, so we wanted to be proactive and take the opportunity to host and review while offering opportunities for continuous improvement to many in the community.”

“Kudos to Plasman and each of their Canadian manufacturing locations,” added Josh. “Each plant across the board was very clean as per the 5S approach to workplace organization. We also appreciate the opportunity to partner with Plasman to host these informative and important workshops.”

“These sessions provide an important platform for safety professionals across the region to share insights, strengthen industry connections, and collaborate on innovative best practices,” concluded Deborah. “It further reinforces our commitment to proactive risk management and to fostering a strong, sustainable safety culture across all of our facilities.”

Plasman is proud to host this training session with WSPS and share a number of initiatives and accomplishments related to our Safety Program, including our Safety Campaign, numerous safety improvements and reductions in injuries, and recent milestone celebrations, including 10 years of No Lost Time in Windsor Tooling.
