On Wednesday, April 30, Plasman Chief Executive Officer, Mark Sullivan, and VP of HR North America, Sean Borrowman, were accompanied by Plasman MVP ambassadors from Global Headquarters and Tecumseh Manufacturing in donating four six-foot tables and a Cricut Printing Machine to Windsor Residence for Young Men (WRYM). These tables will be used to upgrade the current ones they have in their classroom that are used for life-skills, seminars, meetings, counselling, etc. The Cricut will allow residents to create different artistic and personal projects.
“It was a pleasure to meet the dedicated members at WRYM and learn about the important and impactful work they do,” said Sullivan. “As a community partner, it was enlightening to see how Plasman’s contributions are being utilized to help provide a safe and structured environment for young men in the Windsor-Essex community.”
Upon delivering the donation, Executive Director, Jason Weinburg, WRYM, and WRYM staff were generous enough to give Plasman a tour and share a more in depth look at what they do, how they do it, and their successes.
Plasman MVP ambassador, Crystal Garvey, Senior R&D Engineer, said, “As a single person without children, I have watched good kids grow up in my neighborhood, who didn’t have the support they needed. They lost their way in life, became homeless, and went down the wrong path. Learning about Windsor Residence for Young Men gives me hope for young men that there are essential resources they need to have a good life and not fall into the system in a downward spin.”
What is Windsor Residence for Young Men (WRYM)
The WRYM supports youth 16-24 years of age as they leave homelessness behind to build new lives. WRYM provides a range of services to support youth who identify as male on their journey from “street to home.”
Around 84% of residents from WRYM either graduate high school or attended school with almost 1/3 gaining employment. On average, each resident is connected with 7 referrals for support to address housing and personal needs with an approximate 89% success rate of residents acquiring housing.
“We are deeply grateful to Plasman for their generous donation of tables and essential technology to The Windsor Residence for Young Men,” said Weinburg. “Your support strengthens our life skills program and empowers homeless youth to build brighter, more stable futures. Thank you for investing in hope, dignity, and opportunity.”
