As we all value and understand, Safety at Plasman is driven through the individual awareness and actions of each and every team member. Our Safety Champions lead the way through demonstrating our key drivers of Safety and support our core values and safety non-negotiables at Plasman.

Recently we introduced our Safety Champions to highlight and celebrate our commitments to safety in our workplace.

We are proud to announce our first recognized Safety Champions in North America, Terrie Anderson and Hector Jesus Nieves.

Terrie Anderson

Terrie has worked for Plasman Fort Payne Manufacturing for six years in paint, assembly, shipping, and quality and is currently a Quality Technician.

Terrie was nominated as a Safety Champion for being safety conscious and actively involved on the floor. She is proactive in pointing out potential risks and issues before they turn into incidents and speaking up when she notices hazards. She has also actively encouraged others to take a key role in safety within their jobs and at Fort Payne.

For Terrie, being a Safety Champion means being a “passionate advocate who proactively fosters a strong safety culture, modeling safe behavior, identifying hazards, and mentoring peers. It means essentially going beyond compliance to create an environment where everyone feels safe, empowered to speak up about risk, and motivated to prioritize well-being.”

Terrie states that one safety procedure she follows daily is situational awareness, a habit that supports our non-negotiables of following safety procedures and pedestrian safety. “This habit is a proactive process of stop, look, and listen to survey your surroundings for potential dangers, such as distractive drivers,” said Terrie.

Hector Jesus Nieves

Hector has worked at Plasman Querétaro Manufacturing for nine months as an Industrialization Engineer.

Hector was nominated as a Safety Champion for taking care of himself and others by asking and ensuring his fellow team members are wearing proper PPE and helping new employees to know the hazards of their activities.

When asked what piece of safety advice Hector would give everyone, he said, “Before any task, evaluate the risks and if you are not sure if the activity is safe, consult with EHS on how to control the hazards and do not perform any task in which you have not been trained in.”

Hector defines a Safety Champion as someone who is alert and keeps track of safety measures to avoid incidents.

Congratulations Terrie and Hector. Both dedicated Safety Champions exemplify the importance of Safety as a core value in their actions and behaviors. They continuously drive our four safety pillars and five non-negotiables in their daily work while actively encouraging others to do the same.

We are all safer working alongside Terrie and Hector.
