Bridging the Distance: New Partnership Supports Local Families Traveling for Specialized Care

Plasman is proud to announce a significant new addition to our MVP Corporate Giving program, a partnership with the Children’s Health Foundation to support families across the Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent region.

Over the next two years, we have committed $10,000 to the foundation’s Family Assistance Program. This contribution is specifically earmarked to help local families who must travel to Children’s Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre for specialized pediatric care that is currently unavailable in our immediate communities.

Why this Partnership Matters

For many families in Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent, a medical crisis involving a child is compounded by the logistics of distance. When a child requires the advance specialized services at Children’s Hospital in London, the “hidden costs” of care, fuel, overnight accommodations, and meals can create an overwhelming financial burden during an already stressful time.

Plasman’s donation aims to help alleviate these pressures, ensuring that parents can focus on what matters most–the health and recovery of their children.

“When a child is ill, the last thing a family should worry about is how they will afford the drive or a place to stay near the hospital,” said Mark Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer, Plasman. “We are honored to help bridge that gap for our community neighbors.”

The Impact of the Family Assistance Program

The Family Assistance Program serves as a vital safety net by ensuring that geographic location is never a barrier to receiving world-class medical treatment. This funding provides direct support for travel and related expenses, allowing parents to remain by their child’s bedside in London without the looming worry of how to afford the journey. By removing these immediate financial hurdles, the program helps reduce the immense psychological stress on the family unit, fostering a more supportive environment for a child’s recovery and long-term well-being.

“Partnerships like this ensure families can focus on their child – not the cost of getting here. When a child needs specialized care, nothing should stand in the way,” says Scott Fortnum, President & CEO, Children’s Health Foundation. “Thanks to Plasman’s generosity, more families from Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent will be able to stay close to their child during treatment, with one less worry on their shoulders. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to helping families stay together during some of their most difficult moments.”

Commitment to Our Community

This partnership is a reflection of Plasman’s ongoing dedication to the health, safety and wellness of the communities where we live and work. By supporting the Children’s Health Foundation, we are connecting and investing in the resilience of local families and the future of our youth.
