Plasman continues their community giving by donating over 200 cereal boxes to Frank W. Begley Public School

Recently, Plasman MVP ambassadors from Global Headquarters, Tecumseh Manufacturing, Windsor 1 Manufacturing, and Windsor Tooling made cereal box donation to their community partner Frank W. Begley Public School for the second time this year. Over 200 cereal boxes that met the Ontario Student Nutrition program guidelines were delivered.

“Plasman is proud to support Begley’s breakfast program by donating nutritious breakfast foods to help ensure every child starts their day ready to learn,” said Rod Alward, President, North America, Plasman. “We believe that no child should face hunger, and we’re committed to making a positive impact in our community.  Together, we can build brighter futures, one meal at a time.”

Begley’s Breakfast Program has been running for more than 25 years. The program operated in the school’s original building and continued to operate when it was rebuilt in 2006. The program went on a brief pause during Covid and started back up again in September 2022.

When the breakfast program restarted in 2022 it operated as a three-day program (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) due to the limited number of volunteers available. Since September 2023, they have been able to operate five days a week because of the support of more than 20 volunteers from Parkwood Gospel Church. “The time, service, and kindness given by the volunteers has allowed us to feed 60-90 students each morning, and 420 students a day with snack,” explains Sara Shahbazi, Vice Principal, Frank W. Begley Public School. The volunteers arrive before 7am to prepare breakfast and snack bins for the school community and are ready to greet and serve the student population at 7:30am each day.

The Begley Breakfast Program is a community effort. It is with the support of Plasman and other community partners that allow us to serve our students a nutritious meal every morning,” said Shahbazi, adding, “Breakfast is not only an important part of supporting the health and academics of our students, but it also nourishes their well-being and sense of belonging through family-style seating and the engagement and connection fostered by our staff and volunteers who circulate the room.”
