Plasman is extremely proud to announce that Windsor Tooling, our founding operation that opened in 1978, achieved a significant milestone in the manufacturing industry: Ten consecutive years without a single lost-time injury! This remarkable accomplishment underscores Windsor Tooling’s unwavering commitment to workplace safety and its profound dedication to their team members.
A team effort, this achievement is a testament to Windsor Tooling’s robust safety culture, which has been meticulously built and consistently reinforced over the past decade and beyond. Most would agree that operating without a lost time incident in ten years is a rare and commendable feat in any industry, particularly in manufacturing, which often involves complex machinery and processes.
“This milestone is not just a number. It represents the collective effort, vigilance, and dedication of every single person at Windsor Tooling,” said Rod Alward, North American President, Plasman. “At Plasman, our team members are our most valuable asset, and their well-being is our top priority.”
Windsor Tooling’s dedication extends beyond compliance with regulations; it’s ingrained in Plasman’s core values. “Safety isn’t just a policy here; it’s a natural mindset,” said Rob Caixeiro, Mold Maker Manager, Plasman. “We believe that every accident is preventable, and we work tirelessly to ensure that our workplace is as safe as it can possibly be. This decade long record proves that safety can only be achieved through ownership, dedication, and teamwork. Above all, this validates our commitment that a zero-incident culture is achievable.”
Windsor Tooling’s Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) sets the safety tone at Windsor Tooling in many ways while performing monthly safety inspections. Through these consistent inspections, they can touch base with all employees, creating opportunities for open, judgment-free dialogue where all team members feel safe enough to express their concerns and know that they will be addressed.
This historic achievement puts even greater foundation and importance to the recent refocus on team member safety across all Plasman locations. Chris Lambing, Assistant Scheduler/Tooling Support Specialist, believes Plasman’s commitment on safety has helped set the tone for all Plasman locations to support a culture and mindset that all can be a part of.
“We don’t want anyone in the workplace to feel like they can’t voice their concerns,” said Lambing. “By staying on top of all required training, we’ve been able to create an environment where people feel confident in their ability to work safely and strive to keep each other safe as well.”
Windsor Tooling’s exemplary safety record serves as an inspiring example for other companies, highlighting how a strong safety culture not only protects employees but also contributes to operational efficiency and overall business success. “This achievement is a direct reflection of Windsor Tooling’s commitment to following all safety protocols, having a zero-tolerance culture towards unsafe work by identifying potential hazards, and supporting a safety-first mindset by looking out for one another,” concluded Alward.
In recognition, Windsor Tooling will celebrate this significant milestone with a BBQ and each team member will receive a commemorative golf shirt. Congratulations to our Windsor Tooling team. They certainly have illustrated that Plasman’s “Safety driven through teamwork” mindset is possible and attainable.
