Over the weekend, Plasman MVP Ambassadors gathered at the Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) warehouse workshop to present them with a $5,000 donation to help support the building of beds in Windsor-Essex county for children. Once the presentation of the monetary donation was given, Plasman MVP Ambassadors rolled up their sleeves, trading handshakes for sanders and drills, ready to get their hands dirty and transform lumber into comfortable beds for children.
SHP is an international organization responding to a real community problem of child bedlessness. It is dedicated to building, assembling, and delivering beds to children in need. The SHP motto is “No Child Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town” and they believe in providing each child with a comfortable bed to improve their sleep quality and restore dignity to families. SHP aims to end child bedlessness. The Windsor chapter is one of 230 worldwide and was established in 2020. Currently, the local Windsor-Essex community needs 1,900 beds for children.
“We were honoured to have the Plasman MVP Ambassadors team up with SHP Windsor, and together we became ‘One Driving Force’ working side by side, volunteering to hand-build beds for needy kids in our Windsor Essex community,” said Brian Cyncora, President, SHP Windsor. “The Plasman team not only demonstrated a strong work ethic, but they also reinforced their commitment to community with a generous monetary donation to help SHP Windsor end Child Bedlessness in Windsor-Essex. Please accept our most sincere and heartfelt thank you.”
Building beds for children is a heartwarming way to give back to the community, and it’s even more special when it’s a group effort. When Plasman MVP Ambassadors came together on their day off to volunteer, it showed a remarkable level of commitment and camaraderie.
“Volunteering as a team is a powerful experience,” said Roger Lauzon, Global HR Lead, Global Headquarters, Plasman. “It provides an opportunity to socialize and learn about one another that might not be obvious in a typical work setting.” A project like building beds, for instance, requires a mix of hands-on skills, teamwork, and collaboration. Seeing people offer their personal time and use their talents to help others in need is incredibly inspiring.”
These beds will provide a safe and comfortable place for local children to sleep, which can have a significant positive impact on their well-being and development. The Plasman MVP Ambassadors’ collective effort helps SHP make a tangible difference in the lives of families in the community. They had given more than just their time; they had given their energy, their skills, and a piece of their weekend to ensure that several children would have a comfortable place to sleep.
The best kind of community partnerships aren’t always found in an office, fundraiser, or gala, but sometimes, it is found in a dusty warehouse, building a better future, one bed at a time.
