Recently, Plasman Lawrenceburg Manufacturing was recognized by their vendor, Rowland Safety & Supply, for reducing their carbon footprint and preventing unnecessary air and soil pollution by using absorbent pads.
Through Rowland Safety & Supply’s recycling program with absorbent pads Lawrenceburg Manufacturing was able to reduce their carbon footprint and improve the environment by reducing 18,811lbs (8,532.52kg) of landfill waste and recycling 900g (3.4m3) of oil with 30.82(MTCO2e) greenhouse gas reduction in 2023.
“I’m so excited for Lawrenceburg to be recognized for reducing the carbon footprint and preventing unnecessary air and soil pollution,” said Bridgette Marston, Environmental Health & Safety Specialist, Lawrenceburg Manufacturing.
The oil that is absorbed by the pads is recycled by Rowland Safety & Supply. They provide a closed-loop recycling process that extracts, cleans, dries, and utilizes advanced in-house technology. Cleaned absorbent pads are returned to Lawrenceburg Manufacturing to use again. The extracted oil is sent for re-refining and any solvents are separated from the extracted oil after cleaning for reuse.
“As we utilize Rowland Safety & Supply, we are reducing the cost spent on regular absorbent materials, as well as extending the life of what would otherwise become landfill waste through the recycling process,” explained Bridgette. “Lawrenceburg is making every effort to be more environmentally friendly and receiving this award shows the effort of our team is making a difference!”
This process helps to maintain a healthy and safe environment at Lawrenceburg Manufacturing as they continue to drive towards a more sustainable future.
