The air buzzed with cheerful energy at the Chatham Children’s Treatment Centre (CCTC) as Plasman MVP Ambassadors pulled up to the main entrance with a truck full of items. This was more than just a delivery; it was the culmination of weeks of dedicated effort through our corporate giving program, reinforcing Plasman’s commitment as a long-standing community partner.
Out of the truck came boxes, big and small, containing over 150 much-needed items from the CCTC support staff’s wish list. Staff members and MVP Ambassadors, alongside CCTC personnel, began the joyful task of unloading.
“Our long-standing partnership with the Chatham Children’s Treatment Centre is a true reflection of our corporate values,” said Rod Alward, North American President, Plasman. “Seeing these 150+ therapeutic and life skill items – from specialized toys to essential equipment – being put directly into the hands of children and therapists underscores why we do this. We are dedicated not just to business success, but to fostering the health and potential of many children in our community.”
The items weren’t just standard donations; the focus was on therapeutic items essential for the Centre’s specialized programs and items to help develop life skills. The delivery included:
- Sensory and Therapeutic Toys: Weighted vests, fidget toys, soft textured balls, and fine motor skill-building sets, which are integral for occupational and physical therapy sessions.
- Diverse and Inclusive Books: A collection of engaging storybooks and educational materials featuring diverse characters and covering topics relevant to emotional regulation and communication. These are used in speech-language pathology and family support programs.
- Specialized equipment: Items such as switch-adapted toys designed to assist children with various mobility and accessibility needs during their treatment.
- Life-skills equipment: Air fryers and portable hot plates, which will help teach everyday cooking skills.
As the items were sorted and placed in the main lobby for all to see, a sense of renewed purpose filled the Centre. The new therapeutic toys would make challenging exercises feel like play, the books would open up worlds for non-verbal children, and the equipment would allow therapists to customize treatment plans with greater precision.
“Every year, our partnership with the Chatham Children’s Treatment Centre reminds us why community involvement is so crucial,” remarked Daniela Stefaniga-Breaz, Production Manager, Tilbury Manufacturing. “Seeing the impact these donations have on the children’s therapy and development is truly rewarding.”
Plasman has proudly been a community partner with the Chatham Children’s Treatment Centre for over 10 years, providing targeted in-kind donations like this one. This latest contribution of over 150 items is a true mountain of resources and a testament to our enduring belief in the CCTC’s mission: helping every child reach their full potential.
“Plasman’s continued generosity is nothing short of inspiring,” said Mike Genge, President & CEO, Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent. “Each year, their team goes above and beyond to understand the needs of our clinicians and support the children we serve. Their thoughtful contribution this year will have an immediate and lasting impact across multiple programs. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing partnership.”
